Red Crescent Shelters Afghan refugees in Hirmand

ZAHEDAN, 15 August 2021 (IRCS) - Following unrest in Afghanistan which has forced Afghan people to flee their homes, Sistan and Baluchestan provincial Red Crescent branch sheltered 356 people in its camps.

Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan which borders with Afghanistan from the north, accommodated 356 Afghan people (44 households) in two camps in Hirmand County. The camps were set up by the Sistan and Baluchestan provincial Red Crescent branch for Afghan people who were seeking an emergency shelter in Milak border in the Central District of Hirmand County.

The Red Crescent also distributed canned food and moquette among the households.

So far, two camps for 1,000 people have been set up by the Red Crescent in Hirmand, said Alireza Mir Bahaoddin, managing director of the Sistan and Baluchestan provincial Red Crescent branch.

The Afghan people returned to their country after they spent 72 hours in Adimi camp in Sistan region.
