Following the incident, the Iranian Red Crescent dispatched 27 operational teams to the scene. The Society has also sent 10 ambulances and three relief helicopters to transport the injured to medical centers.
The Red Crescent helicopters transported 20 injured people to medical centers, according to the Society.
“There is no injured person who has not received help, but one passenger is still missing on the scene where the Tabas-Yazd train was overturned,” said Mehdi Valipour, Head of the Relief and Rescue Organization of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS).
The train was carrying 348 passengers and crew. Out of 11 wagons, 8 wagons were damaged.
The derailment happened some 50 kilometers (30 miles) to Tabas, about 550 kilometers (340 miles) southeast of the capital Tehran, on the rail that links the town to the central city of Yazd.
The aid workers are trying to get the overturned wagons back to normal, said Valipour.
