At 22:30 (local time) on Thursday, 21 July, following a phone call from the Mountaineering Association to the IRCS 112 relief voice about the disappearance of six Malaysian mountaineers in the heights of Damavand, a relief team with full equipment was dispatched to the region from Rineh mountain relief post in Amol County.
After hours of searching operations, the Red Crescent rescuers managed to find the mountaineers at 4:30 a.m. on Friday, 22 July, (local time), transferring them to Damavand's third climbing station.
Damavand Mountain is the highest mountain in Iran and the Middle East. It is the highest volcanic peak in Asia and the 19th tallest peak in the world.
The mountain is located in the north of Iran in the central part of the Alborz Mountain range located in the south of the Caspian Sea.
