Dr Yaghoub Soleimani remarked the Iranian Red Crescent Society is ready to establish a secretariat for this subject according to the experiences that the IRCS has in the field of responding to disasters.
He said: “With the establishment of this secretariat in Tehran, the facilities of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, especially its EOC (Emergency Operations Center), will be used to communicate with the EOC centers of other National Societies and an international network will be formed to respond to disasters,”
IRCS Secretary general emphasized that the Iranian Red Crescent Society is prepared to assist the Red Crescent and Red Cross Societies countries that are members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to establish their emergency operations center.
Soleimani also proposed that a platform be created to strengthen the capacity of Muslim National Societies to deal with disasters so that these societies can share their experiences, information and technical knowledge with each other.
He added: 'We believe that Muslim societies have cultural and religious capabilities and commonalities that can be advantageous to Muslim people during natural disasters.'
Mr Soleimani also asked the national Societies of the Muslim countries to use the new technologies to respond quickly and effectively to disasters and to train people by communication technologies.
At the end of his speech, the IRCS secretary general said that considering cultural, linguistic and religious commonalities we can share our experiences in the field of recruiting of volunteers and young members and to hold joint camps for youth in the region.
