Referring to the activities of the IRCS in the fields of “prevention, relief and policy”, Dr Pirhossein Kolivand said: “According to the international missions and national objectives, the Red Crescent established climate change center last year and have designed and implemented a lot of activities in the fields of reducing the effects of climate change and increasing the people's resilience against these effects.”

Last year, the Iranian Red Crescent volunteers planted 100,000 saplings as a way to combat the effects of climate change.

Furthermore, the Red Crescent provides aid to families who are affected by climate change, such as drought, in certain regions of the country.

The two-day international conference on sand and dust storms is taking place in Tehran in the presence of representatives from 50 countries and 15 international organizations, as well as a vast number of experts, university professors, and members of executive, research, and educational institutions.
