IRCS, Iraqi Health Ministry Forge Stronger Ties in Medical and Humanitarian Fields

BAGHDAD, 17 September 2026 (IRCS) – The Iranian and Iraqi Red Crescent ‎Societies have agreed to cooperate on a range of humanitarian Programmes.‎

Pir Hossein Kolivand, President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), met with Iraqi Health Minister Abdul Hussein al-Moussawi in Baghdad today, reaching an agreement to expand medical and educational cooperation.

 

Kolivand stated that the Iranian Red Crescent is prepared to train Iraqi physicians, dispatch Iranian medical teams to Iraq, and establish medical and nursing schools in the country.

 

Furthermore, Iraqi Health Minister Abdul Hussein al-Moussawi expressed his gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Iranian Red Crescent Society, emphasizing his country’s determination to strengthen bilateral ties.

 

“I am deeply grateful for your support,” he stated. “We are dedicated to directing all our efforts toward establishing and further developing this collaboration.”

 

Both nations also intend to foster joint cooperation in the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors.

 

According to Mr. Kolivand, the Iranian Red Crescent is prepared to share its expertise in the production and supply of pharmaceuticals and medical devices with Iraq.
