IRCS assists people affected by snow in 12 provinces
TEHRAN, 14 January 2024 (IRCS) – The Red Crescent Society of Iran provided assistance and support to over 3,700 individuals who were impacted by the severe snowstorms.
Starting on January 10th, various regions across the nation experienced snowfall, affecting twelve provinces and creating disruptions along forty-six mountain arteries. The teams from the Red Crescent extended assistance to a total of 3,760 individuals, offering much-needed relief during times of distress. A total of 191 individuals were provided with emergency sheltering services, ensuring their safety amidst challenging circumstances. Furthermore, 11 individuals were promptly transferred to secure locations, guaranteeing their protection and security. In addition to these essential services, the Red Crescent distributed relief items, such as warm blankets, to those affected by the situation. The Iran Meteorological Organization has issued a cautionary notice regarding an imminent blizzard and snowstorm, emphasizing the potential dangers it may bring to certain regions. The Red Crescent branches in those provinces have been put on high alert, ensuring preparedness and quick response in the face of any emergency situation. In order to facilitate efficient assistance during times of disaster, the Red Crescent has urged individuals to promptly contact the relief number of 112.
