The Iranian Red Crescent Society's (IRCS) “sniffer dogs training and care centers” operate in all provinces across the country. These dogs are deployed for various relief activities. For instance, during the recent 12-day airstrikes by Israel, the Red Crescent used its sniffer dogs to search collapsed buildings for survivors trapped under rubble.
According to Mohammad Hossein Kobadi, Deputy of Operations for the Relief and Rescue Organization of IRCS, the dogs undergo two years of specialized training under the society's most skilled instructors.
“The number of sniffer dogs will increase to about 160, which means a 50 percent increase in operational capacity,” he added.
Furthermore, the Iranian Red Crescent has equipped its sniffer dog training and care centers with modern technology for both instructors and dogs, including a specialized clinic equipped with surgical facilities.
