Referring to the establishment of a BRICS rapid response mechanism for natural disasters and humanitarian crises, as well as the launch of joint research centers in the health sector, Dr. Pir Hossein Kolivand highlighted the importance of promoting sustainable health development, reducing inequalities, improving health literacy in disadvantaged communities, and expanding health diplomacy through cooperation with international institutions.
Furthermore, the IRCS delegation at the event, including Razieh Alishavandi, Under Secretary-General for International Affairs and International Humanitarian Law, announced the Iranian Red Crescent’s readiness to play an active role in forming joint relief teams, providing rehabilitation services, training specialized personnel, and developing health infrastructure.
During the meeting, Sergei Ryabkovo, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, welcomed the proposals of the IRCS delegation, stating: “Very practical and valuable points were raised, drawing my attention to the issues of volunteers and low-income groups facing social challenges.
Every country and organization has its own unique capacities, and your capabilities in this area are particularly significant.”“All the topics raised are practical and actionable. You can use these as models, and we, as government officials, will work towards their implementation,” he added.
Dr. Pir Hossein Kolivand, President of the IRCS, is a member of the Civil BRICS Council and also heads the council’s health working group.
