Over 42,000 receive IRCS relief amid snow and floods
TEHRAN, 21 December 2025 (IRSC) – The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has delivered relief services to more than 42,000 people affected by severe weather across the country.
From December 15 to 21, the IRCS supported 25 provinces, including East Azerbaijan, Ardabil, Isfahan, Bushehr, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, South Khorasan, Razavi Khorasan, North Khorasan, Khuzestan, Zanjan, Semnan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Fars, Qom, Kurdistan, Kerman, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Golestan, Lorestan, Mazandaran, the independent center of Kish, Markazi, Hormozgan, Hamadan, and Yazd. The Society aided 42,112 individuals in total. Among them, 13,219 people stranded on roads and in rural areas received food supplies. In a major relief operation at Aminollah Defile in Bojnourd, North Khorasan, IRCS teams rescued more than 2,000 people trapped by snow and blizzards, including two pregnant women. Rescuers transported 19 injured individuals to medical centers and provided outpatient care to three others. Floods claimed seven lives in Fars, Khuzestan, and Hormozgan. Moreover, one IRCS rescuer in Jahrom, Fars, lost his life while saving occupants from a car trapped in floodwaters. Aid workers also offered emergency shelter to 4,484 people, evacuated 396 individuals to safety, pumped water from 492 residential units, and recovered 2,152 vehicles stuck in snow. These efforts involved 681 teams, 182 ambulances, 20 rescue vehicles, and additional resources.
