IRCS transported five pregnant women to medical centers amid harsh ‎weather
TEHRAN, 24 January 2026 (IRSC) – During the past 24 hours, the Red ‎Crescent has transported five pregnant women to medical centers to ‎receive treatment. ‎
These women were located in Qazvin (1), Kermanshah (2), and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad (2), where they could not be transferred to medical facilities due to heavy snowfall and impassable roads. The transfers were carried out by Red Crescent aid workers.  Over the same 24-hour period, 8am January 23 - 8am January 24, the provinces of East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, Ardabil, Ilam, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Khorasan Razavi, North Khorasan, Khuzestan, Zanjan, Semnan, Fars, Qazvin, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Golestan, Gilan, Lorestan, Mazandaran, Markazi, and Hamedan were affected by snowstorms and blizzards.  The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) deployed 154 relief teams from 93 IRCS branches to provide relief and rescue services to affected individuals.  During this period, 478 travelers and residents in East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, Ardabil, North Khorasan, Zanjan, Semnan, Fars, Kurdistan, and Hamedan were provided with emergency accommodation.  Furthermore, IRCS aid workers rescued 7,670 individuals traveling in 2,918 vehicles that were stranded in the snow.  The Red Crescent also distributed relief items to 249 affected individuals in Ardabil, Khorasan Razavi, North Khorasan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, and Hamedan.
