May 8 marks World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day and the beginning of Red Crescent Week in Iran. On this occasion, the compassion and dedication of those who stand firm in difficult times, serving others and saving lives, are honored. In addition to commemorating World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, the Iranian Red Crescent Society observes Red Crescent Week nationwide from May 8 to 14, during which a range of programs and activities will be held. During the week, IRCS volunteers will showcase the Society’s services and achievements in the main squares of cities across the country. Public first aid training stations will also be set up, and disaster preparedness training will be provided to the public. In addition, rescuers and individuals rescued during the U.S.-Israeli airstrikes will recount their experiences of relief operations. New IRCS pharmacies will be inaugurated in Shahroud, Jiroft, and Lahijan, located in Semnan, Kerman, and Gilan provinces, respectively. Smart Systems for the Relief and Rescue Network will also be unveiled. The Iranian Red Crescent will also introduce its latest tracking systems and sniffer dogs during Red Crescent Week. A photo exhibition on relief efforts during the imposed war will be held in Tehran. Health caravans will be dispatched to remote areas, and free medical services will be provided. Moreover, IRCS volunteers and staff will donate blood during the week, and a memorial ceremony for the martyred students and teachers of Shajareh-Tayyebeh School will be held in Minab.
