On Monday, April 25th, 2016, a high ranking delegation from Danish Red Cross comprising Mr. Sven BAK-JENSEN, Vice President and Mr. Anders LADEKARL, Secretary General visited the IRCS division for education, research & technology in the course of its visit to the Iranian Red Crescent Society.
During the visit, the delegation held talks with Dr. Jamaladini, the IRCS Under Secretary General for the education, research, and technology and his deputies in different departments. The both sides exchanged views and reached consensus on some of the subjects facilitating the future international cooperation of the two RC/RC National Societies in education, research and technology.
Having welcomed the delegation and wished them all the best during their stay in Iran, Dr. Jamaldini started by introducing the activities being done by his division in various areas of higher education, research and trainings focusing on the public trainings as well using technology targeting the promotion of the knowledge of people from different walks of life. He went further by pointing to the significance of the cooperation and sharing information on progresses made by the two National Societies on applied humanitarian education and research which can lead to exchanging best practices and products constructively. Dr. Jamaldini praised the various activities done by the DRCS in using proper encouraging mechanisms inviting staff, youth and volunteers to learn more about how to have safer lives in face of disasters and accidents. He also pointed to integration and centralization of the IRCS education, research, and technology activities by giving the role of monitoring, policy making and validating IRCS educational to his division with the purpose of supporting and upgrading the effectiveness of his services delivery educationally. He, then, came up by asking the DRCS delegation for the inputs.
Mr. Sven BAK-JENSEN, Vice President expressed his thanks for being welcomed warmly by the Iranian Red crescent Society. He referred to the content of the previous meeting he had with the other divisions of the IRCS and the common subjects of interest by saying that he is assured that both National Societies of IRCS and the DRCS can have very good future cooperation. He thanked Dr. Jamaldini for asking them for the input by referring to Mr. Anders LADEKARL to continue the talk as the Secretary General of the DRCS.
Mr. Anders LADEKARL, the Secretary General, took the floor by expressing his praise to the IRCS humanitarian activities and his willingness in sharing knowledge and experiences. Having welcomed the best knowledge and practices of the IRCS, he reoffered to best practices by saying that they are struggling to meet the best practices and to provide evidence on the impact of what they are doing. He continued by adding that the IRCS can play a significant role in documenting what RC/RC is doing and what are the best practices in the areas where it is in. He went further by saying that DRCS relies on the cooperation with universities and private sectors within a good framework of action seeking logistics and support for the betterment of doing the service deliver to the people on disaster prevention and response as well as on health.
Mr. Anders LADEKARL, the Secretary General also referred to effective use of technology and e-learning initiatives by the IRCS focusing on provision of the e-learning platform being able to cover different languages. He, then, followed by Mr. Sven BAK-JENSEN, Vice President who emphasized on the significance of starting up to change minds as a key to do things well in the fast-moving world where education is so necessary.
