Cassard: ICRC appreciates IRCS relief efforts in war
TEHRAN, 03 March 2026 (IRCS) - Vincent Cassard, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Iran, affirmed the ICRC’s support for the relief efforts of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) following the recent US-Israel airstrikes in the country.
Following his meeting on Tuesday with the IRCS President at the Peace Building, Mr. Cassard stated that the violence over the past three days in the conflict, which has extended to encompass civilians, schools, and medical centers, has severely impacted them.
He further added that, as an ICRC representative, he declares that under international humanitarian law, civilians, schools, medical centers, and their personnel are entitled to protection from violence.
Mr. Cassard concluded by recognizing that the Iranian Red Crescent is the primary emergency responder to the attacks, adding, “As members of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, we fully appreciate and support their efforts.”
