Referring to the incident that occurred on Wednesday, 18 March 2026, Kolivand said that IRCS aid workers were on the scene carrying out a purely humanitarian mission. “An attack on a relief ambulance transporting aid workers and rescue equipment is an inhumane act and a blatant violation of the well‑established rules of international humanitarian law,” he stated.

Emphasizing the protected status of relief ambulances under international principles, Kolivand added that directly targeting an ambulance operating under the clearly marked Red Crescent emblem not only endangered the lives of dedicated aid workers but also wounded the conscience of the human community.

He noted that Red Crescent aid workers are present at the scene of incidents solely to save human lives, regardless of affiliation, status, or circumstances.

“Any attack on these neutral and humanitarian forces is an attack on the fundamental principles of humanity,” he said.

Condemning the incident, Kolivand called on international institutions and organizations responsible for humanitarian law to conduct a serious investigation and take measures to prevent the recurrence of such dangerous actions that threaten the safety of relief workers.

He stressed that the Iranian Red Crescent Society will not halt its humanitarian mission, adding that its aid workers will continue to stand alongside the people and provide assistance to the injured.
