IRCS President Marks New School Year at Tehran’s Shahid Mahallati School Damaged in War
TEHRAN, 23 September 2026 (IRCS) - Honoring the memory of 311 students killed in US and Israeli strikes against the country, Pir Hossein Kolivand, the President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) rang the bell for the new school year today at Shahid Mahallati Boys’ Elementary School in Tehran.
The Shahid Mahallati School in Tehran had sustained 60 percent damage during the attacks by the US and Israel in the 40-day war.
Kolivand’s participation in the ceremony aimed to boost cooperation between relief organizations and the education system, while highlighting the need to enhance school safety, train students in self-aid skills, and promote a culture of disaster readiness.
He also planted a sapling in the schoolyard to honor the memory of the students of Minab county and the 311 students martyred in the US and Israeli strikes.
