Red Crescent Responds to Talesh Flood
TALESH, 22 September 2020 (IRCS) – Red Crescent has assisted 175 flood-affected people in Talesh County in the northern province of Gilan after a massive flood killed two people.
On the night of 20 September, 33.5 mm of rain in Talesh inundated rivers, damaging infrastructures and roads, and blocking the Asalem-Khalkhal artery and bridges in Talesh.
The flood washed Talesh County including six villages and killed two people including a 70-years-old man and a 13-years-old boy.
Red Crescent has distributed relief items such as tents, blankets, ground sheets as well as hygiene stuff including washing powder and soap among the affected families. Red Crescent relief workers have also delivered heating appliances, cookware, rice, beans and canned food to the people.
According to the Relief and Rescue Organisation of the Iranian Red Crescent, five operational teams including 25 aid workers and rescuers have participated in the relief operation.
