Situation Report No.1 On torrential rainfall in Iran
Iranian RC has provided relief services to 61 cities and villages and 9 mountainous regions. Through the operations 9,757 persons have received relief services, 536 persons have been sheltered and 79 persons evacuated to safe areas.
Situation overview
Widespread torrential rainfall across the country in late March 2020 has caused an increase in stream flows which consequently triggered flooding in different parts of Iran. As a result, some 19 provinces have been affected at different levels such as East Azerbaijan, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, South Khorasan, North Khorasan, Khorasan Razavi, Semnan, Sistan and Bluchestan, Fars, Qazvin, Qom, Kerman, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad, Mazandaran, Gilan, Golestan, Bushehr, Khuzestan, Markazi and Hormozgan.
Some houses in Sistan and Baluchestan as well as roads in South Khorasan provinces have been damaged severely.
Iranian Red Crescent Action
Iranian RC has provided relief services to 61 cities and villages and 9 mountainous regions. Through the operations 9,757 persons have received relief services, 536 persons have been sheltered and 79 persons evacuated to safe areas.
100 teams (500 relief workers) were involved in relief operation.
Iranian RC has also distributed following relief and food items in the affected areas to address the partial needs of the flood affected people:
- Tent: 102
- Blanket: 2849
- Ground sheet: 1148
- Plastic sheet: 376 kg
- Food package: 676
- Canned beans: 2191
- Rice: 930 kg
- Beans: 345 kg
Operation is still continuing in Bushehr, Hormozgan, Kerman, Sistan and Baluchestan, Semnan, Fars and Khuzestan.
