Iranians Donate over $16m to Kermanshah Earthquake

TEHRAN, Jun. 19 (IRCS) _ Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) released an official report on how and where it has expended the public cash donations to support Kermanshah earthquake-affected people from November 13, 2017 till May 21, 2018.

 

TEHRAN, Jun. 19 (IRCS) _ Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) released an official report on how and where it has expended the public cash donations to support Kermanshah earthquake-affected people from November 13, 2017 till May 21, 2018.

In total, Iranians deposited IRR 673,431,255,531 (over 16,000,000 US dollars) to IRCS bank accounts to be spent in Kermanshah earthquake-affected regions.

IRCS has spent over IRR 683 billion and 718 million (over 16,244,000 US dollars) during nearly 6 months. That is, Red Crescent spent more than IRR 10, 286,744,000 (over 244,000 US dollars) in addition to public cash donations for victims of Kermanshah earthquake.

From the public cash donations, Iranian Red Crescent deposited over IRR 583 billion and 900 million (over 13,800,000 US dollars) to the bank accounts of 29,195 eligible households to purchase essential life appliances.

IRCS also deposited a sum of IRR 87 billion and 618 million (over 2 million US dollars) to the bank accounts of 29,206 eligible households as Iranian New Year gift. It also deposited a sum of over IRR 12 billion (over 290,000 US dollars) to the bank accounts of 244 newborns during the earthquake days and families who have lost their loves in the earthquake.

From its local resources, IRCS has also spent over IRR 2567, 386, 738, 000 (over 61,055,552 US dollars) for purposes such as providing relief supplies, purchasing heating devices, sleepy set, park devices for children, food packages, cash assistance for earthquake-affected people to build and rent homes, treatment of the victims, expenses of air relief operations, etc.

A magnitude 7.3 earthquake hit Kermanshah province, western part of Iran along the border with Iraq on Sunday November 12, 2017 at 21:48 pm local time, killing at least 620 people and injuring more than 9,000 in numerous districts of the province. In total, 427,266 people were affected in 8 cities and 1,950 rural areas of Kermanshah province. 37,796 residential units in rural areas and in the cities have been seriously damaged between 50 and 100 percent. So far, 1,309 aftershocks in Kermanshah have been registered, according to the Iranian Seismological Centre.
