IFRC’s Kate Forbes Praises Iranian Red Crescent’s Service, Honors Fallen Aid Workers
GENEVA, 28 May 2026 (IRCS) - Pir Hossein Kolivand, President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), met today with Kate Forbes, President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), to discuss the humanitarian efforts undertaken by the IRCS during the 40-day war imposed on Iran by the United States and Israel.
The President of the IRCS emphasized the invaluable role of the Iranian Red Crescent’s dedicated and selfless personnel, who tirelessly strived to alleviate human suffering in the war situation.
Kolivand also detailed the instances of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) violations committed by the United States and Israel during the airstrikes, which targeted civilian and humanitarian infrastructure, as well as civilians and aid workers.
For her part, the IFRC President expressed her sympathy to the families of the aid workers who were martyred and to those injured in the line of duty, stating: “We stand with these families, and the services provided by the Iranian Red Crescent during the war have deeply moved us.”
Referring to initiative capabilities of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, Ms. Forbes requested further information and more detailed explanations on the functioning of the “water rescue robots”, with a view to facilitating the introduction and sharing of these experiences and technologies with other National Societies within the Federation.
