IRCS provides 34 tons of relief items to flood-hit people

TEHRAN, 23 April 2024 (IRCS) - The Iranian Red Crescent Society has distributed 11,276 food parcels to people affected by floods in the provinces of Sistan and Baluchistan, Kerman and Hormozgan.

The Red Crescent has delivered a total of 34 tons of relief items such as tents, blankets, plastic sheets, hygiene supplies, washing supplies, food parcels, bottled water and rice to those impacted by the floods, as reported by Yaghoub Soleimani, the Secretary General of the IRCS. The food assistance consists of 11,276 packages. 

Relief operations by the IRCS are still ongoing in the three Southern provinces that have been hit by heavy rains and subsequent floods since April 15, providing assistance to 65,523 individuals in Sistan and Baluchistan, Kerman, and Hormozgan.

In the immediate aftermath of the disaster, three emergency camps were set up to shelter 4,509 people.

The Red Crescent's helicopters saved 1,200 people from remote and hard-to-reach areas, taking them to safety, as well as moving nine individuals to hospitals.

Moreover, aid workers emptied water from 350 residences.
