After a 5 magnitude earthquake hit Kashmar County in the eastern province of Khorasan Razavi on Tuesday, 18 June, the Iranian Red Crescent has offered emergency shelter to those impacted.
So far, three camps have been set up for more than 5,600 quake-affected individuals, according to Ali Moniri, Managing Director of the Khorasan Razavi Red Crescent provincial branch.
The earthquake resulted in four fatalities and 120 individuals being injured. The Red Crescent ambulances transported 35 injured individuals to hospitals, while others received outpatient treatment from aid workers.
During the Kashmar earthquake, the Iranian Red Crescent relief teams, along with assistance from local residents, successfully rescued a baby trapped under debris. Two relatives of the baby did not survive the earthquake.
The Iranian Red Crescent mobilized 15 relief teams along with relief vehicles to the scene following the disaster.
The earthquake caused destruction to homes in the villages of Mohammadiyeh, Zendehjan, Hajiabad, Kasrineh, and Sarhozak.
