The quake struck on the night of Sunday, August 31, 2025. In response, the President of the IRCS, Dr. Pir Hossein Kolivand, sent an official message to his counterpart at the Afghan Red Crescent Society, Shaikh Ul Hadith Shahab Uddin Delawar.

Dr. Kolivand expressed his sympathy to the victims' families and confirmed the IRCS's readiness to dispatch relief and medical teams to the country.
