Each year, the birth anniversary of Avicenna on August 23, is commemorated as National Doctors' Day in Iran.
In his Tuesday message, Dr. Pir Hossein Kolivand congratulated all doctors of the country, especially Red Crescent volunteer doctors who provide services for patients in the farthest parts of Iran and in Mecca and Medina and in underprivileged countries.

“At the level of humanitarian actions, one of the highest levels of work for the sake of Allah should be written in the name of sincere doctors whose honesty in healing the pain of people's ill health, shows their heart's devotion to the Almighty God under the trust of the noble verse of " and when I get sick, it is He who cures me;" which makes them accept the serious mission of treating the sick in order to please the Almighty Lord,” wrote the IRCS president.
Dr. Kolivand added, “Our dear doctors wear the volunteer uniform in the most deprived areas of the country and prescribe free medicines for the neediest people.”
