Red Crescent teams still conducting search operations at the Arak-Shazand mine

ARAK, 17 June 2024 (IRCS) - Efforts to locate two missing people are ongoing as Red Crescent’s rapid response teams continue search operations following the collapse of the Arak-Shazand mine on 16 June.

Following the mine collapse, the Red Crescent teams discovered the bodies of two individuals as search efforts continue to locate two additional missing individuals.

On Sunday, the Red Crescent mobilized 19 quick response teams and search dogs from Markazi, Lorestan, and Hamedan to locate the two bodies in the mine.

Since Monday, June 17th, the Red Crescent teams have been conducting search operations to locate the remaining two missing persons.

The search and rescue operation has been impeded by the large amount of rocks and debris, stated Babak Mahmoudi, who serves as the Head of the Relief and Rescue Organization of the Iranian Red Crescent.
