Operating under the campaign title “Tabib Davvar” (literally meaning "Travelling Doctors"), these volunteers deliver medical care between established clinics. Equipped with first aid kits and basic medical supplies, they offer outpatient services directly to pilgrims.
Every year, the Iranian Red Crescent deploys relief and medical teams to both Iran and Iraq to support those undertaking the Arbaeen pilgrimage. Arbaeen is a Shia Muslim religious observance marking forty days after the Day of Ashura.
This year, the Arbaeen pilgrims' procession will begin in early August.
