IRCS and Iraq Communications Ministry to boost coordination for Arbaeen pilgrims

BAGHDAD, 31 July 2025 (IRCS) – The President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), Pir Hossein ‎Kolivand, met with Iraq's Minister of Communications, Hiyam Al-Yasiri, in Baghdad to discuss enhanced ‎cooperation in serving Arbaeen pilgrims.‎

During the meeting, Kolivand emphasized that robust communication services during crises are a critical complement to relief efforts. “With the high volume of pilgrims during Arbaeen ceremony, effective communication between relief teams, medical centers, and pilgrims is essential,” he stated. “Cooperation from the Iraqi Ministry of Communications in this area is a strategic necessity.”

Minister Al-Yasiri welcomed the IRCS proposals and expressed her ministry's readiness for broad cooperation, specifically in strengthening communication infrastructure and facilitating pilgrims' connectivity.

Both sides stressed the need for technical and infrastructural coordination to provide effective services to pilgrims.

Discussions also covered the issues such as allocating frequency bands for relief communication devices, the possibility of directly connecting ambulances to the Emergency Operations Room (EOC), activating Iranian mobile phone roaming in Iraq, providing free internet packages for pilgrims, ensuring easy access to the 4030 health consultation system that offers medical, psychological, psychiatric, health, and nutritional consultation services.

As the body responsible for the Health, Relief and Rescue Committee of the Arbaeen Central Headquarters, the IRCS is providing round-the-clock services to pilgrims on the borders and within Iraq through deployed medical, relief, and communication teams.
