Pir Hossein Kolivand, President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, travelled to Iraq to assess services for the Arbaeen pilgrimage and met with Yaseen Ahmed Abbass, President of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society.
During the meeting, both sides highlighted the long-standing cooperation between their National Societies and stressed the need to further enhance collaboration in relief and humanitarian efforts.
The meeting focused primarily on improving coordination for services to Arbaeen pilgrims. In addition to thanking the Iraqi Red Crescent for its support, Mr. Kolivand called for strengthening the joint relief teams along the pilgrimage routes and at Iraq's border crossings.
The presidents of the two National Societies also agreed on the need to develop joint strategies to send medical and food aid to Gaza.
