IRCS Completes Covid-19 Vaccine Imports

TEHRAN, 31 October 2021 (IRCS) – The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) imported the last consignment of Covid-19 vaccines to the country on Sunday to bring the total number of the imported vaccines to more than 112 million doses.

Since April 2021, the Society has imported 112,390,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine consisting of 33 consignments into the country from China.

“The import of vaccines was only part of IRCS efforts to combat the pandemic and, in a major move, the Red Crescent began to control the country's borders in March and screened over 750,000 travelers entering the country,” said Dr Karim Hemmati, the IRCS President.

In addition to controlling the borders, Iranian Red Crescent volunteers have disinfected public places. IRCS volunteers also participated in public vaccination and vaccinated people in 200 centers.

Furthermore, the Red Crescent hospitalized and treated patients with Coronavirus in Noorafshar Hospital in Tehran which is affiliated to the Iranian Red Crescent.
