This station has been established in an area of 1.100 square meters to serve the pilgrims to travel to Iraq to mark the 40th day after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Shia Imam. This year Arbaeen falls on September 6.
In addition to the Arbaeen ceremony, the IRCS center in the Mehran border terminal will serve the pilgrims throughout the year. Emergency medical facilities with 40 beds and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) equipment are available in it.
Additionally, the station has been furnished with emergency shelter, washing machines for washing the pilgrims' clothes, sewing machines, and accommodation for medical staff and aid workers.
Mehran in the western province of Ilam is a major border between Iran and Iraq, and is among the most significant crossings, particularly due to its closeness to holy cities in Iraq.
