The full message of Pir Hossein Kolivand, the President of the IRCS, to Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, President of the ICRC, reads as follows:
Ms. Mirjana Spoljaric Egger
President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)
Dear Ms. President,
Greetings and respect.
I would like to sincerely thank you for your recent statement emphasizing the need to end the suffering of the innocent people of Gaza and your strong call for the protection of civilians amid the ongoing crisis. Your principled and humane stance brings hope to many hearts awaiting immediate global action to put an end to the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza.
Given the intensity and continuation of hostilities, the dire humanitarian conditions, and the widespread restrictions on access to essential services, we respectfully urge the International Committee of the Red Cross to utilize its impartial and independent standing and capacities to initiate constructive humanitarian dialogue with all parties involved, as well as with national Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. We kindly request that you, in close coordination with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the United Nations, and relevant regional actors, take effective, coordinated, and urgent measures to ensure the safe and swift passage of humanitarian aid and guarantee unhindered access to those in need in Gaza.
We are confident that the ICRC’s pivotal role during this critical time can help alleviate civilian suffering, reinforce the principles of humanitarian neutrality, and mobilize global support in response to this unprecedented crisis.
Sincerely,
Dr. Pir Hossein Kolivand
President
