During the visit, Pirhossein Kolivand, President of the IRCS, stated that Red Crescent aid workers -especially those who have sacrificed their lives during challenging missions- deserve to be honored.
He also emphasized that members of the Red Crescent who lose their lives in humanitarian operations should be officially recognized as martyrs of service.
On October 3, 2025, an IRCS helicopter crashed in the Oshtorankuh Mountains of Lorestan Province while carrying out a rescue mission. On board were nine individuals: four members of the flight crew and five Red Crescent rescuers.
