Babak Mahmoudi, Head of the Relief and Rescue Organization of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), said the four mountainers are believed to be trapped beneath the snow. 

“On Friday morning, 23 January, at 8:45 AM, the four climbers were on the route to  the Kalagh Laneh peak on Mount Alvand”, he added.

The Red Crescent has deployed six teams to the area, comprising 30 aid workers and rescuers, who are conducting search operations to locate those trapped under the avalanche.
