IRCS ready to assist Afghanistan following deadly earthquake

TEHRAN, 03 November 2025 (IRCS) – The Iranian Red Crescent is ready to provide humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake damaged the northern part of the country.

Following this earthquake, which has killed tens and injured hundreds, Pir Hossein Kolivand, the President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), sent a message to his counterpart at the Afghan Red Crescent Society, expressing IRCS’s readiness to dispatch relief and medical teams to Afghanistan.

The Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran extends its respectful greetings to Your Excellency, as well as to the staff and volunteers of the Afghan Red Crescent Society.

With deep sorrow, we have been informed of the powerful earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale in northern Afghanistan, near the provinces of Balkh and Samangan, which has caused damage to infrastructure and, unfortunately, resulted in the loss of lives and the injury of hundreds of people.

The Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran expresses its sincere condolences to Your Excellency and to the Afghan Red Crescent Society for the loss of precious lives, and conveys its sympathy to the bereaved families and all those affected by this tragic disaster.

During these difficult moments, we stand with you and declare our readiness to provide any humanitarian assistance, including the deployment of relief and medical teams.

We wish Your Excellency and all colleagues of the Afghan Red Crescent Society good health, success, and continued strength in your valuable humanitarian mission.
