IFRC Secretary General Expresses Sympathy with IRCS Following Killing of ‎Aid Worker

GENEVA/ TEHRAN, 24 January 2026 (IRSC) – Jagan Chapagain, Secretary ‎General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent ‎Societies (IFRC), has expressed his condolences following the killing of an ‎Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) aid worker during recent unrest in the ‎country.‎

Mr. Chapagain shared his message of sympathy on the social media platform X, stating: “I am deeply saddened by the killing of Amir Ali Latifi, an Iranian Red Crescent Society staff member, and the wounding of five other Iranian Red Crescent colleagues, who were all in the line of duty in Gilan province, on 10 January 2026.”

“I extend our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and all Iranian Red Crescent colleagues,” the IFRC Secretary General concluded.
