Iraq keen to cooperate with IRCS in medical field

TEHRAN, 06 November 2025 (IRSC) – Salah al-Obaidi, Iraq’s Deputy Minister of Interior, met with Pir Hossein Kolivand, President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), to discuss cooperation in pharmaceutical, medical, and rehabilitation fields.

During the meeting, Kolivand proposed transferring the IRCS’s medical expertise and experience to Iraq.

“We plan to organize the dispatch of doctors to Iraq and facilitate the treatment of Iraqi patients in Iran to enhance mutual cooperation,” Kolivand said.

For his part, al-Obaidi noted that Iraq has long pursued sending its patients to Iran for medical treatment.

“We are interested in establishing a long-term partnership with the Iranian Red Crescent and seek collaboration in specialized areas, particularly in medicine, treatment, and rehabilitation,” he said.

The Iraqi delegation, comprising the Deputy Minister of Interior and a team of pharmaceutical and medical experts, is scheduled to visit the Iranian Red Crescent’s production facilities during their three-day stay in Tehran.
